Using the app
Which phones does the app work on?
Both iPhone and Android. The free TraiLink app is on the App Store and Google Play. You'll see AppPlusPlus Inc. listed as the developer.
Do I need an account?
No account is required to get started. Download the app, pair your TraiLink over Bluetooth, and create or join a group.
How do I join a group?
Users can make their group joinable by tapping the share button on their group. Your TraiLink device will automatically detect nearby groups available to join and display them to you.
Does everyone in my group need the app running?
No. Every TraiLink shows up on the group's map whether or not that person has their phone out, so kids and passengers get tracked without a phone of their own. The app is where each rider sees the map, messages and settings.
Can I load my own maps?
Yes. Download offline maps before you lose service, and import KML/KMZ overlays such as trail networks, event boundaries and canoe routes right into the app.
How do I update my TraiLink device's firmware?
Firmware updates are available in the TraiLink app. Open the app, go to device settings > update firmware, and follow the instructions on screen. Updating the device takes approximately 7 minutes.
How TraiLink works
Does it use cell service or satellites?
Neither. TraiLink devices create their own private long-range network between your group, and every device relays for the others. That's why there's no subscription and nothing to activate.
What is the range between devices?
Up to 15 km device-to-device in the open, and typically 1 to 3 km in hills and trees. Because every device relays for the group, a spread-out crew reaches much farther than any single link.
Where can I buy a TraiLink, or get help with an order?
